"Dunked" was way too informal of a word to describe baptism from the platform by a CO. That's one of them things where if a liberal elder used it (not that he should) hardliners would be all over his butt. However, mention it to the CO and he'll wait for his chance to pay back the elder.

C.O. Talked about the fact that we may die in this system
by life is to short inbeing that my husband is still going to most of the meetings, i tied into the meeting sunday to see what the co had to say on his last day at the hall.
one thing i found interesting is that we may die in this system.
he said when he first learned the "truth" he just knew for sure that the system would end before he was baptized and he was so stressed out from it.

Elder uses Congregation Bible Study as an opportunity to ban the movie Avatar
by easyreader1970 inlast night, during the congregation bible study, the conductor (overseer?
) used this as a platform to say that the movie avatar is of satan and no christians should see it.. .
he said that he googled the (original) meaning of the word avatar and it was of hindu religious origin.

My favorite is the elder who's personal agenda is to harass those seeking or pursuing higher education.......until it is time for his children to go to college, then it is a personal decision.

No fortune in my fortune cookie: Should I be worried?
by dissed inafter a great chinese dinner last night, we received our traditional fortune cookie for desert.. for those of you that have never had chinese food, its a cute little cookie, with a small typed message inside promoting good fortune.
how they get the message 'in' the cookie is a wonder in itself.
on the back side of the message are your lucky numbers.

Fortune cookie experience.....
We were having dinner with a single JW bro, desperate to get married. (like most JW Bro's)
While he excused himself to the restroom, the fortune cookies came. His had the paper sticking out a little, so we pulled it out, wrote the name of the waitress on it, a phony tel. #, and put it back in. We couldn't wait for his reaction upon seeing it.
When he read it, he didn't say WTH, but he looked over to the waitress and never said a thing to us about the mysterious message in his cookie.
I guess he had secret plans for him and this waitress that never would be materialized.
Great prank!

I used to be a cab driver for 5 and a half years. I relocated last month and I'm currently waiting for my new job to start. I hope it starts soon because I hate sitting around on my ass doing nothing while other people pay for my needs. I'm living with my adopted sister and her family right now.
Any good taxi cab confessions you'd like to share with us?

Did You Hope Certain Newly Appointed Elders Would Change Things In Your Hall?
by minimus ini used to hear it all of the time!
i was 24 when i was first appointed as an elder.
certain ones who were disillusioned with the "old guard" were really hoping i'd come on board and change the way the body of elders did things.

There were some elders that believed the Organization might change for the better. These "reformers" tried but were outgunned by the majority. Any hope of reform has died.
Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt which hides the scars.

I look back, with particular disdain, on the revelation book. I hated it because for as much as I wanted to make myself believe that prophesy somehow did apply to the dubs, that book made it appear so stupid. I remember one particular night being unable to convince myself that the UNIVERSAL TRUMPET BLASTS were nothing more than the seven major conventions in Watchtower history. It just all seemed a little far fetched. That and the fact that it was so poorly written made it my least favorite book studied at the Kingdumb Hell.
I actually liked the Revelation book study. I was a study conductor and could make it really interesting for people. But, yeah.....I have to agree, it was very far-fetched to believe that the trumpet blasts of Revelation corresponded to JW conventions of different years. But, what did we do? We read the paragraph, ask the question, got the answer from the paragraph and moved on.
Do they still believe the trumpet blasts = conventions nonsense or has that changed also?

Feeling Unfit, Fat and Unhealthy
by cantleave ina semi-serious request.. i hate exercise (yes i am an indolent slob), i sit in an office or a car most of the time and eat and drink too much.
so my new year's resolution is to lose weight (about 3 stone would be good) to try and prolong my life a little since i ain't got eternity in mind anymore.
i am looking for fun ways to get fit, or an effective home based diet programme that has worked for other people.

I want to drop 20 lbs.
My plan is plenty of water. Cut back on food intake. More protein, less carbs in diet. Similar to Adkins, but not quite as strick on the carbs. Running, weight lifting & boxing work out. Back on L-Arginine and Protein supplements for muscle build.
